Basic Tank Needs

Taking Care of your Hermit Crab can be hard. Lucky for you here is a list of “just” the essentials.

  • 20 Gallon Tank and glass Lid
  • Two water pools (one is fresh water and the other is salt water)
  • The substrate needs to be at least 6 inches (play sand and eco earth)
  • Primer for water
  • Ocean Salt
  • More than one hermit crab (They are social animals)
  • Lighting (they need a day and night cycle
  • Plastic or glass lid
  • Heating Pad (Placed on back of tank do not put under the tank)
  • Food Bowl
  • Plants & Decorations (They need to have places to hide and climb, they are prey animals so having an abundance can make them feel safe)
  • Extra natural shells (No painted shells as they are growing, they bite off pieces of the shell and can be harmful)
  • Shell Shop (a place to keep the shells so there’s not a lot of dirt or sand on them)
  • Scavenged items

  • "Black and Third World people are expected to educate White people as to our humanity. Women are expected to educate Men. Lesbians and Gay men are expected to educate the Heterosexual world. The Opressors maintain their position and evade their responsibilityfor their own actions. There is a constant drain of ebergy which might be better used in redifining ourselves and devising realistic scenarios for altering the present and constructing the future."
